A major supplier of library equipment and interiors operates a sales package to control the supply, stock control and invoicing of its extensive catalogue. However, although this package meets the operational needs of the organisation it does not allow for all of the sophisticated statistical analysis of seasonal sales and stock movements needed to plan inventory levels and to time sales activities.

Kenelm Systems worked with the company to build a Progress-based data warehouse, fed with information from the main sales system, from which detailed analysis of activity by customer and product could be produced - and, as requirements for information change, reports (and extracts to spreadsheets) can be modified or new ones added. The bespoke system gives the company better management information, better inventory control, and better forecasting than they had before - all vital elements in maximising profits.
